Dive into the digital world with this (6)-week program. For (2)-hours per class, your teacher explains how to use the Procreate app. Procreate is a simple art app which gives the artist freedom to work while traveling or sitting at home without art supplies. This digital course teaches you, hands on, how to use Procreate to create digital art just the same as if you used most drawing mediums. It is the closest art application there is to using the actual art supplies. It is also closely related to Adobe products and works with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop to enlarge or finalize your work for professional grade compositions. High resolution with the iPad Pro allows you to print finalized pieces for finished artwork. Procreate also works with your original artwork to fix, change or enhance your original pieces for print.
Learn the different tools with Procreate. You will learn the different brushes as well how to change and work with your canvas’. This first week will be about understanding how Procreate works, the different brushes and options on the app. Homework will be given to practice with tools.
You will create a piece with different tools. Sample work will be given to each student to try to copy with the Procreate application. Each student will have one-on-one help as we work through copying the effects from a piece of artwork that will be provided.
Bring any original piece of your artwork or a photo of your original work (or a friend’s work) and you will learn how to load and improve the work for retouching, which can also be used for photographs. Using the airbrush tool or painting tools for artwork editing and correction, as well as photo editing.
How to draw from real life. In this week, we will set up a still life and allow each student to interpret a piece of artwork it in their Procreate. At the end of class, you will critique and have fun with each other’s artwork.
This week you will learn how to use special effects tools for changing colors, highlighting and shape changing. You will also learn how to bring in outside artwork, jpeg’s, png’s and how to use them as a layer in your artwork.
Our final work we will discuss and learn how to use your Procreate work for making items to sell, such as greeting cards, t-shirts and other items for resale. This application is just the beginning of the process.
Last week will have a final critique of your favorite piece and a talk about how to proceed forward in your art practice
